Junior Kervens Mezilus finished in third place in the boys 400m hurdles and freshman Nylah Perry finished in fourth place in the girls 400m run.
A number of Cherry Hill High School East athletes shined at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions, which took place on Saturday at Northern Burlington Regional High School in Columbus.
Three individual athletes and one relay team all finished in the top-10 of their respective events on Saturday. Junior Kervens Mezilus was the highest finisher for the Cougars. The only male athlete from Cherry Hill in this year’s Meet of Champions, Mezilus finished in third place overall in the boys 400m hurdles, winning his heat with a time of 53.28 seconds.
On the girls side, freshman Nylah Perry was impressive on Saturday, finishing in fourth place overall in the 400m run with a time of 55.97 seconds. Perry was also the top freshman in the 200m dash, finishing in 12place overall with a time of 25.34 seconds. Perry was topped by sophomore teammate Maya Drayton, whose time of 25.29 seconds put her ninth place.
Drayton and Perry also helped the 4x100m relay team to an eighth place finish on Saturday with a time of 48.28 seconds. Junior Danielle Allen and Giavanna Roberson also ran the relay.
In the field events, junior Analisa Groble finished in 30th place in the javelin throw with a toss of 107-feet, two inches. Junior Alana Cohen qualified in the pole vault, but recorded no height for the event.
