The partnership will allow the department to distribute free Slurpee coupons to children they feel act in an appropriate manner.
The Evesham Police Department and 7-Eleven convenience store chain are once partnering again on the “Operation Chill” community policing project.
This is the third year that the Evesham Police Department is partnering with 7-Eleven as it celebrates “Operation Chill.”
For the 22nd year, 7-Eleven is working with local police departments to distribute free Slurpee coupons to children through this community outreach effort. Officers on patrol will have a supply of the coupons and distribute them to those youth they feel act in an appropriate manner.
According to police, the Evesham Police Department is always in search of ways to have a positive impact on the community it serves. Officials with the department feel such interactions help to promote a trusting relationship by giving officers the opportunity to interact in a “non-enforcement” situation.
“There is no more important relationship than the one between the community and the police department,” Chief Christopher Chew said. “We do everything in our power to cultivate this connection in the proper manner. ‘Operation Chill’ and the community partnership it promotes give us another great avenue to create lasting bonds.”
This program will run from Friday, June 9 through the end of the year.
