Cherokee High School junior named Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medalist

Cherokee High School junior Paul Kelly was recently named a Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Medalist for his achievement in math and science.

Cherokee High School junior Paul Kelly was recently named a Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Medalist for his achievement in math and science.

RPI asks participating high schools to select one member of the junior class to be honored with the Rensselaer Medal Award.

This $25,000 per year merit scholarship is guaranteed for four years (five years for the B. Arch program) for each medalist who applies, is accepted and chooses to enroll at Rensselaer.

Paul needed to meet the following award criteria:

· Being ranked within the top 10 percent of the class

· Being a member of the junior class

· Demonstrating potential for success in a challenging academic setting

· Exceling in advanced math and science courses

· Exhibiting significant involvement in extracurricular activities
