Weekly Roundup: Evesham School District hosts art show, LRHSD hosts armed services event

This week the Evesham Township School District opened its annual Eyes on Art show, the Lenape Regional High School District held its annual Armed Services Ceremony and the Evesham Police Department announced a new program to reward kids wearing bike helmets. Evesham Township School District opens 23rd annual ‘Eye’s On Art’ show

Some of Evesham’s youngest artists got a chance to shine this week with the opening night gala for the school district’s 23rd annual “Eyes on Art” art show. The walls, tables and most of the open surfaces of the Evesham Township Municipal Complex were covered with artwork from students, with displays mostly intermixed between ages and schools. Pieces in the show will be on display at the township’s municipal building on weekdays through May 25, with exhibit hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Lenape Regional High School District holds Eighth Annual Armed Services Ceremony

With graduation day for the Lenape Regional High School District less than a month away, last night district officials continued the annual tradition of honoring senior students entering the military, military academies or college ROTC programs upon graduation. The night marked the district’s Eighth Annual Armed Services Ceremony, in which staff, family, friends and active service members and veterans came together to wish the students well and impart advice for the future.

Moody’s Investors Service upgrades credit rating for Evesham Township from Aa3 to Aa2

Evesham’s municipal government recently got some positive financial news when Moody’s Investors Service upgraded the township’s credit rating from Aa3 to Aa2. Credit rating agencies such as Moody’s issue credit ratings to townships to help investors judge the creditworthiness of government bonds and the likelihood in which those debts will be repaid. With a better rating, Evesham Township manager Tom Czerniecki said the township will pay less interest on any debt issued to it in the future.

Evesham Police announce ‘Sweets for Safety’ program to reward kids practicing bike helmet safety

The Evesham Township Police Department has announced a community partnership with local businesses Randolph’s Bakery of Marlton for the department’s newest “Sweets for Safety” community partnership program. To help the department encourage safe riding, officers from the Evesham Township Police Department will be issuing “tickets” to kids observed wearing their helmets while riding their bicycles. The tickets will be redeemable for a free cookie, donut, or cupcake at Randolph’s Bakery.

Marlton native speaks about life as part of Navy helicopter squadron

A 2012 Cherokee High School graduate and Marlton native is part of an elite Navy helicopter squadron with a critical mission: hunting and destroying enemy mines in waters around the world. Petty Officer 3rd Class Blake Hamilton serves with Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 15, known as the “Blackhawks,” which operates out of Norfolk. Hamilton works as a boatswain’s mate, which is responsible for training, directing, and supervising personnel in ship’s maintenance duties.
