Cherry Hill East girls lacrosse saw its postseason end on Tuesday in a loss to Shawnee High School.
Cherry Hill High School West baseball got off to a winning start on Tuesday in the first round of the 2017 Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic tournament.
On Tuesday, the Lions cruised past Cinnaminson High School, winning 11–1 to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinal round.
Cherry Hill West led the entire game, scoring nine runs in the game’s first two innings. Chace Sgouros and Scott Shaw each recorded four RBIs for the Lions. Pitch John Stankiewicz allowed just four Cinnaminson hits and struck out eight batters in the game.
Cherry Hill West will next play Shawnee High School on Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. The tournament’s final three rounds will be played next weekend, with the championship game taking place on Sunday at Eastern Regional High School.
Cherry Hill East girls lacrosse eliminated from playoffs at Shawnee
Cherry Hill High School East girls lacrosse lost in the opening round of the South Jersey Group IV playoffs on Tuesday. The Cougars were defeated by defending sectional champion Shawnee, 17–1, in Medford.
Priya Kavuru scored the Cougars lone goal of the game in the second half. The Renegades scored 10 goals in the first half to jump out to an early 10–0 lead. Kate McLoughlin led Shawnee with five goals in the game.
The Cougars’ final scheduled game of 2017 will be on Friday when they take on crosstown rival Cherry Hill West at home at 3:45 p.m.
