Reports include property damage, vehicle burglaries and a drug and handgun arrest.
On Sunday, May 7, Cinnaminson police were dispatched to two churches on Branch Pike for reports of criminal mischief.
At 7:13 a.m., police were called to St. Charles Church located at 2500 Branch Pike, where maintenance workers reported finding broken glass in the front door. Surveillance video shows a white male with a beard and long brown hair pulled into a bun throw a rock at the front door multiple times. The video shows that the incident occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m.
At 10:00 a.m., police were dispatched to the New Apostolic Church at the intersection of Branch Pike and Pomona Road where it was reported that a brick was thrown through a window of the church. The brick also caused damage to a pew inside the church.
At this time, there is no known motive and police are investigating both incidents as bias crimes.
Police believe that the same subject is responsible for the damage to both churches. Anyone that recognizes the subject or has information is asked to call the Cinnaminson Police at (856) 829–6667 ext. 2061. Information can also be reported anonymously to the We Tip Hotline at 1–800–78-CRIME.
The Cinnaminson Police Department received multiple calls reporting vehicles being entered and various property being stolen. The crimes reportedly occurred during the overnight hours of Friday, May 5 into Saturday, May 6. At this time, there were 19 vehicle burglaries reported. Most of the vehicles were left unlocked.
In addition to the vehicle burglaries, one vehicle was stolen and has still not been recovered. There were also reports of property being found in the areas of the burglaries. One resident found two Mongoose bicycles, and another resident found a large knife, which was left in their vehicle.
Residents are reminded to always lock their vehicles, not to leave valuables in vehicles, and to never leave keys in a vehicle. Residents are also asked to report any suspicious activity by calling 911.
Also on Sunday, May 7, Cinnaminson Township Police Department officer Tommy Picou stopped a vehicle on Route 130 for a motor vehicle violation at 11:14 p.m.
A computer check revealed that the driver had multiple warrants out for his arrest. The driver was taken into custody without incident. A search of the driver revealed a bag of suspected cocaine in his pocket.
A search of the vehicle was also conducted. Officers found a fully loaded 9mm handgun under the front seat and two containers of suspected marijuana.
The driver, Brian Brown, 24, of Camden, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition, 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances, and multiple motor vehicle violations. Brown was lodged in Burlington County Jail.
