Voorhees Middle School and Voorhees Police Department present Steered Straight

VMS and VPD put on a presentation helping raise awareness of the current drug epidmeic to help prevent drug and alcohol use from affecting children

On Wednesday, May 17, the Voorhees Middle School and Voorhees Police Department invite parents, adolescents and teenagers to the second annual Steered Straight Parent Academy hosted by Michael DeLeon.

DeLeon served 12 years in prison system and spent another two years in a halfway house. He uses his experiences now as a drug counselor.

At this presentation, attendees will:

  • Gain an understanding of this drug abuse epidemic and better knowledge as to how the nation got to this point
  • Learn about the latest drug trends that children are dealing with
  • Learn about the signs and symptoms to watch for
  • Be better equipped to speak with children
  • Be given tips and advice as to how to better prevent drug and alcohol use from affecting children

The academy is a free educational event and will take place at 7 p.m. in the Voorhees Middle School Theater.
