Members of the Orchard Valley Middle School Drama Club, under the direction of advisor Amy Leso, enjoyed their time in the spotlight as participants in the New Jersey Junior Thespian Festival on April 22 at Toms River North High School.

The students benefited from a variety of workshops including acting and characterization, improvisation, stage movement and dance audition techniques, characterization in masking making, and voice and speaking. The students also networked with peers and received coaching from theater professionals.

Students received performance tips from a collection of experts while attending the festival.

The group was selected to perform a showcase of scenes and musical numbers from “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and received a certificate of excellence for their efforts.

“It was a really great day,” Leso said. “The kids learned a lot and had so much fun.”
