Tait served in the U.S. Navy in the 1960’s aboard diesel electric submarines.
Moorestown resident Jeffrey Tait passed away on April 11 at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer.
Tait served in the U.S. Navy in the 1960’s aboard diesel electric submarines, which he described as interesting times. Following military discharge, Tait graduated college and began a 50-year career as an airline pilot and corporate pilot moving about the country until finally settling in New Jersey flying corporate jets and helicopters for 35 years before retiring two years ago.
Since then, Tait earned his glider pilot rating, renewed his flight instructor license and received the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award.
Tait enjoyed volunteer activities in Moorestown, serving on zoning and planning boards. He was also a member of the Relief Engine Co. in Moorestown for 16 years. Tait very much enjoyed serving and working with such a fine group of volunteers.
Tait enjoyed water skiing and mountain climbing and traveling with his beloved wife, Lonnie, throughout the United States and Europe.
Tait is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lonnie, his daughters, Chris and Jessica, and his brothers, Stephen, Eric, Christopher and Stuart. Tait was one of five sons of the late George and Phyllis Tait.
