Flood watch issued in Voorhees for Friday

The National Weather Service issued the flood watch with two to three inches of rain expected to fall in theĀ area.

With heavy rain expected for much of the day on Friday, the National Weather Service has issued an areal flood watch for Cherry Hill and nearly the entire Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The flood watch goes into effect at noon on Friday and continues through 2 a.m. on Saturday.

A low-pressure system moving into the region is the cause of heavy rainfall throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The area could see two to three inches of rain on Friday, with localized amounts of four inches possible. The heaviest rain is expected to move through the area this afternoon and evening from southwest to northeast.

A flood watch means there is the potential for flooding due to heavy rainfall. There may be flooding along area streams and creeks as well as urban and poor drainage flooding.
