Washington Township and the surrounding area could see up to a foot of snow by Tuesday night.
Washington Township could see as much as a foot of snow over the next 48 hours as the township and most of the surrounding area will be under a winter storm warning beginning on Monday night.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Washington Township from 8 p.m. on Monday evening through 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The warning was issued with heavy snow and strong winds expected to affect the region Monday night and most of Tuesday.
Snow is expected to begin Monday evening and will be heavy from late Monday night through midday on Tuesday. Snow is expected to diminish late on Tuesday afternoon. Accumulation of 8 to 12 inches is expected from the storm. Wind gusts could reach up to 35 miles per hour.
The snow could make many roads impassable and could produce widespread power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines. The strong winds could lead to blowing snow, low visibility and additional power outages.
