There are numerous events to help ring in the spring.
Winter is ending, and spring is right around the corner. Mother Nature has been teasing us with this beautiful weather, but she can be a bit fickle in March. Be prepared with a good book for the possibility of a late season snowstorm.
During the month of March, we are celebrating Women’s History by looking back so that we may look forward. The Pinelands Library is excited to offer two presentations with live character representations. The first is this Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m., and is Betsy Ross’ Next Door Neighbor. The things you can learn from a nosey neighbor about our first flag maker may surprise you. The second is Soldiers Without Guns: Women Defense Workers of World War II. That presentation will be on Monday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m.
The fourth and fifth grade book club doesn’t meet until Monday, March 27, but might want to get started on the book “Gregor the Overlander” by Suzanne Collins. Gregor and his sister Boots take a magical trip to the Underland where spiders, rats and roaches live peacefully with humans, but this world is on the brink of war and Gregor has a part to play in it. Can you guess what that part will be?
As always, we have our Family Movie Night. On Tuesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. we are showing “Moana”, another of Disney’s amazing animated features. In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches an impetuous Chieftain’s daughter’s island, she answers the Ocean’s call to seek out Maui and set things right.
If you are still struggling to learn more about the electronics in our everyday lives, the library is here to help. We will be holding an open session workshop on the how to of e-books on Friday, March 10 between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. If you still have questions about that pesky cloud, we have answers. Please bring your laptop if you have one as we only have a limited number of chromebooks to share. Note: you must have a Gmail account and know your password for this program.
Until next time, keep turning those pages and stay warm.
