American Heart Association provides little red hats to warm hearts in a big way

Through the Little Hats, Big Hearts program, the American Heart Association is raising awareness about family heart health and congenital heart defects.

Shawnee High School Blood Drive

On Friday, Feb. 10, Shawnee High School Student Council sponsored the annual February Blood Drive. At this event, 234 students came to give blood and the school was able to collect 211 pints. Each pint helps save three lives. The school wishes to thank all those that participated.

Shawnee High School presents Sister Act

The performances will take place on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m., Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 4 at 7 p.m.

Medford Scout perseveres to Eagle

He put in the time and the work, but after 10 years of participation in the Boy Scouts of America, Medford resident Gannon Sloves was denied the rank of Eagle Scout last June. But after more than six months of appeals and waiting, Sloves was finally approved as an Eagle Scout last month.

12th Annual Lines on the Pines

Lines on the Pines, an indoor event, celebrating the New Jersey Pine Barrens, is once again being held at the Historic Renault Winery, located at 72 North Bremen Avenue straddling Egg Harbor City and Galloway Township. The 12th annual event will be held on Sunday, March 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Empowering Parents — A Guide to Social Media” Presentation

The Township Council’s Neighborhood Services Advisory Committee will be offering a special presentation for residents entitled “Empowering Parents — A Guide to Social Media.” This forum will be held on Wednesday, March 1 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Medford Public Safety Building, located at 91 Union Street (across from Freedom Park).

AAUW to award $1k Scholarship

The American Association of University Women Medford Branch will award a $1,000 annual scholarship for a non-traditional female college student in May 2017. The scholarship is intended to help ease the burden of college expenses for the recipient.

Medford VFW to host Paint and Sip

Spend the afternoon painting, eating and socializing at the Medford VFW’s Paint and Sip event on Sunday, March 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., located at 317 Church Road (just down the street from Kirby’s Mill).
