Weekly Roundup: Evesham Township looks into new farmers market, township deals with snow

Evesham Council held its latest meeting this week, the township dealt with snow (just not nearly as much as was predicted) and the township is exploring the idea of bringing back a farmers market. Catch up on the week that was with the weekly roundup.

Evesham sees some snow this week

Evesham saw some snow this week, but it wasn’t quite the 4 to 8 inches some weather reports were calling for. The snow did however cause schools to close, delay trash pickup and stop Evesham’s latest court date from being held. In the event of future snow, residents can read up on tips from the Evesham Police Department on how to help the town with plowing and deicing efforts.

Evesham Township explores restarting a farmers market in town

Evesham Township officials are exploring the possibility of once again organizing a farmers market in town. Tentatively, the new farmers market would be set in the lower parking lot of the Fire Administration building on Cooper Avenue. The market would be held on Wednesday evenings from 4 to 8 p.m., starting in June and ending the last week September.

Evesham Township mayor and manager defend decision to reappoint township solicitor

Evesham Township Council has once again awarded a contract to John Gillespie Esq. and the law firm of Parker McCay to serve as the township’s solicitor for 2017. At the township’s latest council meeting, Mayor Randy Brown and Evesham Township manager Tom Czerniecki praised Gillespie for his service, while several members of the public who are critical of Brown faulted Gillespie for not doing more to prevent lawsuits the township has litigated in recent years.

Evesham Township approves deal with Virtua for new sponsorship program at Indian Spring Country Club

Evesham Township is working to grow its “Affinity Program” for the Indian Spring Country Club that would allow the township to partner with outside organizations for sponsorships and discount opportunities at the golf course. Council recently approved Indian Spring’s first Affinity Program member — Virtua Health Inc.

Marlton native and teen set to host local fundraiser for volunteer trip to Ghana

When a booklet on the Global Leadership Adventures program came in the mail to her residence, 15-year-old Cherry Hill High School West student Jade Sedeyn was instantly intrigued. After months of anticipation, this summer she will be participating in the program’s 21-day community service trip to Ghana, but first, the Marlton native needs the community’s help with her fundraising efforts.
