Fire District elections will be held at two locations on Saturday, Feb. 18.
On Saturday, Feb. 18, Fire District №1 will hold its fire election. R. Max Fisher and Grant R. Leuliette will be running uncontested for full-term seats on the board of fire commissioners. Voting will take place from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Emergency Services Building located at 261 W. Main St.
Residents will also be voting on the proposed $2.06 million fire district budget. Also up for vote is whether an amount not to exceed $600,000 should be approved to finance the purchase of a new fire engine, and if an amount not to exceed $50,000.00 should be approved to finance the purchase of a new command vehicle for Fire District №1.

The annual election for the voters of Fire District №2 to approve the 2017 annual budget and elect one Fire Commissioners will also be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., but at the Lenola Fire House located at 229 N. Lenola Road.
Voters will be asked to approve a $744,386 tax levy that is part of a $1,336,973 budget. The proposed amount to be raised by taxation increased $14,553 compared to the prior year which is within the allotted 2 percent property tax levy cap.
The 2017 budget reflects a capital improvement project to replace the lower roof of the fire house that was approved by voters in 2016, and the budget is subject to final adoption upon voter approval.
The registered voters of the Fire District will be asked to elect one individual to membership to one 3-year term on the Board of Fire Commissioners. Newcomer Cynthia Maahs-Knobbs is running unopposed in this year’s election.
In addition, voters will be asked to approve the installation of a vehicle exhaust removal system at the Lenola Volunteer Fire Station at a cost not to exceed $75,000, as the district plans to use reserved funds for the project.
