The Palmyra Improvement Association will hold its first meeting on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church on Maple Avenue.
The association is a grass roots effort to beauty the public spaces of Palmyra. The PIA is planning to become a 501(c)3 nonprofit and allow individuals, companies and trusts to directly invest in the town as opposed to invested through taxes and local government.
The PIA aims to instill pride in the residents and create an even strong sense of community among the members and in the town.
In its first meeting, the PIA will establish trustees and start business. Discussion topics will include clean up day, weeding and planting flowers and what residents and business owners want to see in downtown Palmyra.
