The college’s African American Cultural Committee (AACC) has organized music, movies, demonstrations and more.
A free concert by the Howard Gospel Choir, of Howard University and a soulful lunch are just some of the highlights of Rowan College at Burlington County’s busy February events calendar in celebration of Black History Month.
According to the college, RCBC’s African American Cultural Committee (AACC) organized music, movies, demonstrations and more to recognize important contributions of African Americans and engage the community in events that celebrate culture and diversity.
All of the following RCBC events are open to the public:
- Movie Wednesdays: Visitors can enjoy a different movie every Wednesday in February at the Enterprise Center Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. These are free events.
· Feb. 1 — “Glory” (1989)
· Feb. 8 — “Something the Lord Made” (2004)
· Feb. 15 — “Amistad” (1997)
· Feb. 22 — “Moonlight” (2016).
- Opening Day Speaker with RCBC President Paul Drayton: This event features a conversation with RCBC President Paul Drayton on his life, work and passions on Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Enterprise Center Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. This is a free event.
- Notes at Noon: Operatic baritone Thomas Beard presents his concert program, “The Evolution of Negro Spirituals,” on Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Enterprise Center Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. This is a free event.
- Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University: The Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University presents a “soulful” musical performance on Friday, Feb. 17 at the Enterprise Center Auditorium at 6 p.m. This is a free event.
- Soulful Lunch: Guest Chef, Markese Beverly of the ChopHouse in Gibbsboro, provides a culinary demonstration and presentation while RCBC culinary students, overseen by Chef James Brudnicki, RCBC Interim Director of Culinary Arts, serve a soulful meal, buffet style.
The event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the college’s Culinary Arts Center, 21 Mill Street in Mount Holly. Attendees can choose between different times at 12:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. General admission is $15.
Tickets can be purchased from the Mt. Laurel Campus Business Office located in Evans Hall, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Students can pick up their free ticket with a valid student ID from the Office of Student Life in the Technology Building, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - STEM Engineering Week: A speaker will discuss innovations and opportunities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Enterprise Center Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. This is a free event.
- International Students Expo: RCBC’s international students celebrate culture and diversity through food, arts, performances and presentations about their native countries on Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Enterprise Center Auditorium at 5:30 p.m. This is a free event.
