The board also named Barry Dickinson as the new BOE president for the 2016–17 school year.
Two of the three Cherry Hill Board of Education members who were elected to three-year terms on the board last November were sworn in on Tuesday evening.
Ruth Schultz and Jane Scarpellino were both sworn in to three year terms on the board during the board’s reorganization meeting last night. Schultz is beginning her first term on the board. Scarpellino is entering her first, full term after previously filling a one year, unexpired term.
The third board member elected in November, Edward Wang, was not present at the reorganization meeting, leaving his seat empty at the meeting.
According to the New Jersey School Boards Association, there is no statute or regulations requiring a new elected board member to appear at a reorganization meeting. Wang may be sworn in at the board’s next meeting on Jan. 10 or at another time by an authorized person.
There is also a new president and vice president on the board of education. The board chose Barry Dickinson to take over as the board president for the 2017 calendar year. Eric Goodwin was chosen to serve as vice president. Board member Carol Matlack had previously served as board president in 2015 and 2016.
