The topic of the event will related to preventing the financial abuse of seniors.
The Mt. Laurel AARP Chapter No. 4003 will hold its first 2017 meeting on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. in the Mt. Laurel Community Center, 100 Mt. Laurel Road and Walt Whitman Drive.
Jane Fearn-Zimmer, Esquire will speak on “Preventing Financial Abuse of Seniors”.
Those who attend the meeting can learn to identify signs, strategies to prevent financial abuse, identify resources for reporting suspected abuse and what they can do if they or their loved one has been abused or taken advantage of financially.
Orders will also be taken at this meeting and on Feb 2 for the group’s annual “Hoagie Day Luncheon” to be held on Thursday, March 2.
This year the group will have four choices: American, Italian, Tuna or Turkey, all served with potato chips and a choice of diet or regular soda.
Hoagies will be distributed at the social hour following the March meeting. The group will also have coffee, hot tea and cake for dessert.
Everything is included for $7.
The Mt. Laurel Chapter meets the first Thursday of each month from January to May at 1 p.m. and features speakers on multiple diverse subjects, entertainers with live music and interesting storytellers with inside information on real life mysteries.
On June 1st the Chapter is looking forward to its 30th anniversary celebration luncheon.
