To celebrate the recent Computer Science Week, several classes at Van Zant Elementary participated in the Global Hour of Code.
One group of participants was the second-graders from Scott Katz’s classroom using Tynker, an interactive, visual programming game.
Students created a custom character and learned how to program the character to navigate obstacles, collect candy, and get back to the computer.
In computer class, Dawn Cappello integrated the use of Code A Pillar.
In collaborative groups, students plotted obstacle courses using their math skills, measuring distance and then “coded” the Code A Pillar to successfully navigate the obstacle course.
