The event was tied into the National Day of Giving on Nov. 29.
Students at the Evesham Township School District’s Teddy Bear Academy daycare got a lesson in “being thankful” on Nov. 29 when local first responders visited the children as part of the National Day of Giving.
Local first responders visited Teddy Bear Academy so students could give them letters, pictures and other treats that the students had made to show their appreciation for all the first responders do to keep the students and their families safe throughout the year.
A few days before the event, Evesham Child Care director Leah Pearlmutter described the idea as a way to teach the children about appreciating local, “hometown heroes.”
“It’s trying to teach our kids at our youngest level here that these are our hometown heroes and police officers are good and they’re safe and the officers are here to protect them,” Perlmutter said.
With the kids at Teddy Bear Academy at such a young age, Perlmutter said the kids were at the perfect age to start learning about concepts such as being thankful.
