The accident took place over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Both drivers were taken to Cooper Hospital for treatment and later released. The offending driver was later charged with driving while intoxicated.
Two people were injured early in the morning of Nov. 26 after a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Route 70 struck a Cherry Hill Police patrol car.
The accident took place at 1:38 a.m. last Saturday. A driver traveling in a green 1998 Chevy Malibu was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Route 70 near the Wawa at Route 70 and Kingston Drive. A police car was traveling behind another westbound vehicle when the vehicle swerved to avoid the wrong-way driver. The wrong-way driver and patrol care than collided head-on.
Both drivers were taken to Cooper Hospital for treatment and released. Route 70 westbound was closed for more than three hours between Ranoldo Terrace and Kingston Drive during the investigation. The offending driver was issued a motor vehicle summons and charged with driving while intoxicated. Additional charges are pending.
