The Moorestown Home and School Turkey/Pie Drive will take place on Monday, Nov. 21.
Moorestown Home and School collects frozen turkeys and fresh pies, which are combined with non-perishable goods that are collected at all Moorestown Township Public Schools to create Thanksgiving baskets for Moorestown families in need. This is a community effort, with donations of turkeys, pies and canned goods coming from Moorestown residents, school children and teachers.
The Moorestown Home and School Turkey/Pie Drive will take place on Monday, Nov. 21 at each of the schools in the Moorestown district. The collection sites are:
Moorestown High School, at the back loop/Stanwick Road parking lot from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
William Allen Middle Shool, at the front of the school from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Mooretown Upper Elementary School, at the back of building at the end of the drop off loop from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
South Valley Elementary School, on the blacktop by the drop off loop from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Mary Roberts Elementary School, on the blacktop/sideway area from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Baker Elementary School, across the street at Maple Dawson Park from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
MTPS administrators and teachers organize and oversee the collection and sorting of canned goods at each school and Home and School Community Service volunteers help collect the turkeys and pies.
There are convenient drop off locations at every school site during morning drop off. At the high school, the students bring in dry goods as part of the class competition for Spirit Week. In K-8 schools, the students are assigned food to bring in by homeroom class.
The school relies on the generosity of the entire community to make the event a success; volunteers who help collect turkeys and pies at the schools always enjoy the morning, which is filled with a truly wonderful thanksgiving spirit.
