Letter from the Medford Library Association

Daylight Savings Time is over and darkness falls earlier every day. So, it is a good time of year to settle down for the longer evenings with a good book.

In good timing, the new Reading Raffle baskets have arrived. The children’s basket is full of fun from “The Secret Life of Pets.” There is a book, figurines, a backpack and even some snacks to help pass the reading and playing time. The adult basket will help people prepare for the busy holiday season with books for the cook in them and ideas to soothe the soul. Additionally, there is a $25 gift certificate to Taunton Jewelers toward the purchase of a pretty holiday bauble.

Paws to Read will also be at the library twice in the coming days. Children can enrich their reading skills with therapy dogs Brooke or Ocho on Friday, Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m. or on Monday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. Please contact the library to register for a time.

Family Movie Night is sure to be popular this month. On Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. the library will be showing “Finding Dory,” the story of the lovable but forgetful blue tang fish who is searching for her long, lost family. If you missed it in the theater, this is a wonderful opportunity to see it with the family. Feel free to bring snacks and a blanket.

There are other wonderful adult activities coming up including a Recipe Swap on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. Bring holiday recipes to the Pinelands Library and perhaps find a new family favorite. Then, on Monday, Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m., learn how to make a holiday wreath for Thanksgiving or to last the whole holiday season. All materials will be provided.

Another exciting event, De-stress with Coloring for Adults will be offered on Monday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. After surviving Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and college football, coloring is a good way to relax before the next round of business. The library will supply coloring sheets and pencils. Participants can also bring additional materials.

Please note that the library will be closed both Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday to allow our staff to celebrate with their families.

Until next time, keep turning those pages! Or logging in!
