Lead found in water sources at five Cherry Hill Public Schools
Cherry Hill Public Schools released a report last Wednesday showing lead was found in water sources at five schools. Nine water sources tested above the Environmental Protection Agency’s limit of 15 parts per billion. District officials say all of the affected water sources have been completely shut off. The district plans to test its remaining 12 buildings by the end of the year.
Cherry Hill West boys’ soccer wins first Coaches’ Tournament since 1997
The Cherry Hill High School West boys’ soccer program’s best season in years got even better on Oct. 29. The Lions won their first South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association Tournament since 1997, defeating Williamstown High School, 1–0. The Lions are hoping the Coaches’ Tournament title translates into success in the state playoffs. Cherry Hill West plays in the South Jersey Group III semifinals on Monday.
Cherry Hill Public Schools looking for community input as it revises strategic plan
Community input will be huge for Cherry Hill Public Schools as it prepares for its first comprehensive strategic plan revision in nearly two decades. The district has released a document entitled “Cherry Hill Public Schools 2020: A Clear Vision for the Future.” Feedback from the survey as well as community input meetings will be used as the basis for the district’s new plan.
New program at Cherry Hill Public Library helps visually impaired patrons use digital devices
The Cherry Hill Public Library recently opened its new Assistive Technology Learning Center, providing adults 55 years and older who have had changes in vision the tools to use computers and iPads with ease. The digital devices are equipped with software, making tasks such as typing or browsing the web easier for visually impaired users. In addition, the library is offering free classes allowing patrons to get acquainted with the new technology.
P&T’s Puppy Love Adoption Center goes strong one year after opening
In October 2015, Pat’s Puppies, a Cherry Hill-based pet store, transformed into P&T’s Puppy Love Adoption Center, a organization selling only rescue puppies. One year after opening, the center has adopted out about 1,000 puppies and is establishing relationships with other area organizations.
