A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chew’s Landing on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at noon.
Siegfried Hagemeyer, age 87 of Moorestown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Frankfort, Germany to the late Friedrich Hagemeyer and Frau Vollmer. He lived in Berlin Germany during WW ll, and obtained a sponsor to come to America in 1958, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1962.
Siegfried received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the United Engineering School of Greater Berlin, Germany. His professional employment included Lilly Tulip Corp. in New York, National Sugar Corp. in Philadelphia as a power engineer and Progresso Foods Corp. in Vineland as a project engineer. He retired in 1991.
He was an avid reader and was passionate about acquiring knowledge about any subject. He loved sailing, rowing, the beach and his Airstream RV travel trailer. He spent summers in Strathmere for 40 years. His love of traveling took him to most states and to many foreign countries. He always looked forward to his annual trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to visit his childhood friend, Horst Flemmer.
Siegfried is survived by his longtime companion, Patricia Kelly and his beloved friends, Martin and Marle’ Jo Jakubczak from Easton, Pa.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Barbara Rathey, and a nephew, Andreas Rathey, both of Berlin, Germany, precede him in death.
