Mt. Laurel resident discovers a man in her kitchen going through her purse

Recent police reports also include heroin overdoses, shoplifting incidents and reports of identity theft.

The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

At 7:35 a.m. on Oct.15, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on the 200 block of Amberfield Drive for a burglary.

The resident reported that she discovered a man in her kitchen going through her purse. He ran out of the house when he was confronted. The investigation revealed that the suspect entered and left the residence through a garage door that another resident left open while walking the family dog.

The suspect was described as a male, between ages 20 to 30 with reddish hair and freckles, wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants.

While investigating the burglary of the residence on Amberfield Drive officers located items belonging to another resident of the 200 block of Amberfield Drive and a resident of the 200 block of Belaire Drive.

The investigation revealed that the suspect in the residential burglary had entered unlocked vehicles on Amberfield and Belaire and stole items from the vehicles.

Other reports:

At 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 17, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 25, of Willingboro. She was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

Between Oct. 14 and Oct. 17, a portable generator was stolen from a construction site on Fellowship Road near Route 73.

At 4:56 p.m. on Oct. 16, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on the 1100 block of Route 73 for a narcotics complaint. During the investigation the suspect attempted to run from the officers. After a brief foot chase a male, age 26, of Camden, was taken into custody. He was charged with possession with the intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine, possession of heroin and methamphetamine, obstruction of justice, and promoting prostitution. Bail was set at $50,000 and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

At 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 15, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. A loss prevention officer reported that a suspect attempted to leave the store with a DeWalt reciprocating saw valued at $199.99 without paying. The suspect dropped the merchandise when he was confronted by store security.

At 5:25 p.m. on Oct. 15, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a suspected overdose at a residence on Buckingham Way. Arriving officers located the 24-year-old subject and determined that he had overdosed on heroin. Officers administered Narcan and reversed the overdose. The subject was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Between 12:45 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 14, credit cards were stolen from the purse of a customer at Panera Bread on Centerton Road. The cards were then used to make fraudulent purchases totaling $3,000 at Target on Centerton Road.

Between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 14, a locker in the men’s room at Giant Fitness on Route 73 was forced open and cash was stolen from a wallet.

At 11:45 a.m. on Oct.14, Mt. Laurel Police took custody of a male, age 26, of Collingsdale, Pa. He was wanted by Mt. Laurel Police for identifying himself using another person’s identification during a motor vehicle stop on Aug. 5. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension. Bail was set at $3,500 and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

At 2:13 a.m. on Oct. 14, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Ark Road near Hainesport Road for the report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree. Mt. Laurel Fire Department responded to extricate the driver who was trapped in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Cooper Hospital, Camden by Mt. Laurel EMS. A male., age 31, of Cherry Hill was later charged with driving while intoxicated.

At 5:20 p.m. on Oct. 13, Mt. Laurel Police located a suspicious occupied vehicle in the parking lot of East Gate Square Shopping Center. During the investigation officers arrested a female, age 43, of Philadelphia. She was charged with possession of Suboxone and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

At 2:19 p.m. on Oct.13, Mt. Laurel Police responded to TJ Maxx on Centerton Road for a shoplifting report. The investigation revealed four females concealed merchandise in bags they came into the store with. A loss prevention employee confronted one of the suspects as she left the store. She dumped $335 worth of merchandise out of her bag onto the floor and left the store with the other suspects.

At 12:21 p.m. on Oct. 12., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Nixon Drive for a credit card fraud report. The investigation led to the arrest of hotel guest a female age 37, of Champaign, Ill. Ruff used the internet to book a seven day stay at a hotel on Fellowship Road and then another seven day stay at the hotel on Nixon Drive. She used stolen credit card information to pay for the stays at each hotel. She was charged with credit card fraud with bail set at $10,000 no 10 percent option and she was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

At 11:19 p.m. on Oct. 10, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Camber Lane near Larchmont Boulevard. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 19, of Mt. Laurel. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a court hearing.

A victim reported that his wallet was stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime between Oct. 8 and Oct. 9. His credit cards were then used at several stores in another jurisdiction.

At 9 p.m. on Oct. 9, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a medical call at a hotel on Fellowship Road. On arrival officers located a 32-year-old male who had overdosed on heroin. An officer administered Narcan and reversed the overdose. The subject was transported to Virtua Hospital for further treatment.

At 10:05 a.m. on Oct 9, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on the 1000 block of Hainesport Road for burglar alarm activation. Arriving officers discovered a rear window and rear sliding glass door had been broken. Nothing was missing from the residence. A neighbor saw a black vehicle parked in the driveway before the alarm activated.

At 12:55 a.m. on Oct. 8, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road near Waverly Avenue. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 39, of Camden, He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

At 12:52 a.m. on Oct. 8, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 300 block of Timberline Drive. During the stop officers arrested a female, age 39, of Mt. Laurel. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

At 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 7, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Fellowship Road for a suspicious activity report. During the investigation officers arrested a female, age 35, of Broadhead, Pa. She was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The female also had several warrants for her arrest. Bail was set at $18,500 with no 10 percent option and she was committed to the Burlington County Jail.
