Cherry Hill High School East girls’ tennis’ first doubles team of Rebekah Colacot and Sarah Jang had a big day on Sunday, Oct. 2, as they won the doubles tournament at the South Jersey Interscholastic Championships. Colacot and Jang defeated two doubles teams from Haddonfield Memorial High School to win the title.

New activities for all ages to highlight 2016 Harvest Festival in Cherry Hill

The 2016 edition of Cherry Hill Township’s Harvest Festival will include a few new activities for kids and adults. For the first time, the festival will feature a beer garden courtesy of The Farm and Fisherman Tavern and Market. Another new addition to this year’s festival will be pumpkin bowling where kids can roll a pumpkin down a lane and try to knock over pins.

Lifetime Achievement Award an honor for long-time Cherry Hill resident Sam Jacobs

Sam Jacobs made quite an impact on the basketball court in high school and college. A 1,000-point scorer at Cherry Hill East and West and key player for Cornell University in the late 1980s, Jacobs has been inducted into multiple local sports hall of fames the past few years. On Sept. 26, Jacobs received another honor as the Katz JCC gave him a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Meet the Candidates series kicks off for Cherry Hill Township Council special election

With Election Day just under one month away, The Sun kicked off its 2016 Meet the Candidates series for the upcoming Cherry Hill Township Council special election. Carolyn Jacobs and Rick Short are running to fill a one-year, unexpired term on council.

Prosecutor’s office asks residents to be alert for phishing scam

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office issued an alert to county residents early last week after receiving a report of a scammer who impersonated a prosecutor’s office employee and tried to get a resident’s personal information. The report is currently under investigation. Residents are urged not to give out personal information to anyone over the phone.
