The autumnal equinox has come and gone, and fall is in the air. The mornings are crisp and cool and the days are shortening. Soon Halloween will be upon us. Remember our Costume Swap will be on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. What will you be this Halloween?

October is also the time for our Pumpkin Decorating Contest for kids of all ages. Prizes will be awarded in four different age groups including adults. Decorate your pumpkin as your favorite character from a book and bring it into the library where they will be on display. The contest runs from Monday, Oct. 3until the Thursday, Oct. 27. Winners will be announced on Friday, Oct. 28!

As back to school schedules get busy, don’t forget the wonderful clubs and gaming opportunities at the library. We have a Lego Club, Anime Club and a Chess Club. For the gamer in you, we offer Madden ’17 and NBA 2K16 on XBOX One. On Wednesday, Oct. 19 there will be a Wii Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament. Registration is required for these activities and begins two weeks before the event.

A big shout out and thank you to the ladies of the Pinelands Garden Club. They have provided a beautiful display for Halloween and Thanksgiving of all things fall for your enjoyment. Stop by the display case opposite the front desk to admire their handiwork and get some ideas for your own home.

Don’t forget the library will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 11 for Columbus Day.

Until next time, keep turning those pages! Or logging in!
