Cherry Hill Police, community come together at Unitarian Universalist Church public forum
Police Chief William Monaghan, Cherry Hill African-American Civic Association Vice President Bill McCargo, Camden County Freeholder Jonathan Young and Gloucester County Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Director Milton Hinton were the panelists for a public forum entitled “Cherry Hill Community and Police Relations” at Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill on Tuesday. The panelists discussed a number of issues facing police departments and their handling of local communities and how the Cherry Hill Police Department is building a bond with residents.
Cherry Hill nonprofit hopes to raise money this fall as it continues growing
Joanie Balderstone and Rebecca McIntire never imagined they would be helping women in nine different states when they first started Distributing Dignity in 2013. The nonprofit began donating bras and feminine hygiene products to nonprofit organizations serving women in need in the South Jersey region. The organization now partners with organizations in nine different states and houses thousands of products in its warehouse. Cherry Hill West participating in No Place For Hate pilot program
The Anti-Defamation League of Philadelphia recently chose Cherry Hill High School West to participate in No Place for Hate PLUS, a pilot program where ADL officials will work directly with students to provide in-depth training and further No Place for Hate principles within the student body. As part of the program, students will be chosen as peer trainers and will hold anti-bias workshops with their peers.
Bruce Apple chosen as People’s Choice Award winner for 2016 JCC Sports Awards Dinner
The Katz JCC is rewarding long-time member Bruce Apple for his past volunteer efforts on Monday as Apple will receive the People’s Choice Award at the 2016 JCC Sports Awards Dinner. Apple is formerly a JCC board member and coached a number of JCC youth sports teams.
Cherry Hill East cross country dashes past competition at Battle at Ocean County Park
Cherry Hill High School East boys’ and girls’ cross country teams had a successful day on Sept. 16 at the Battle at Ocean County Park. Cherry Hill East boys’ cross country finished in first place out of 34 teams, while the girls’ team finished in fifth place out of 28 teams.
