Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio has announced that the Burlington County Animal Shelter will be entering into a partnership with the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine to provide medical care to shelter animals.

“Through this partnership the Penn Vet Surgical and Anesthesia Training Program will provide our shelter animals with a complete physical examination, heartworm testing, baseline blood work, and free spay/neuter surgeries,” Garganio said.

As part of the agreement, transportation of animals to Penn Veterinary Hospital will be provided by the Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter.

“The great part of this agreement is that not only will our shelter have access to free veterinarian care and professional guidance, but it will also help to increase the number of animals finding their forever homes,” Garganio said. “I am confident that many of the students, staff and faculty at Penn Vet will go on to adopt some of our amazing animals once they meet them.”
