Tabernacle Board of Education names new superintendent and new business administrator

Tabernacle’s Kenneth R. Olson Middle School was packed with interested and curious citizens and teachers for the Tabernacle Board of Education’s special meeting last Wednesday to see who would be named the next district superintendent and business administrator.

The Tabernacle Board of Education unanimously approved Shamong’s Glenn Robbins Jr. for superintendent and Jessica DeWysockie for business administrator/board secretary. Both are set to begin in the district starting Nov. 1.

“I am deeply honored to be selected by the Board of Education as the new Superintendent of the Tabernacle Township Schools district. In my heart, I firmly believe that this is an opportunity of a lifetime to return back to Tabernacle, which I have always considered my second home,” Robbins said. “Words alone cannot express how eager I am to join the incredible staff within the TTS family.”

“I want to extend my thanks to the board, administration and members of the community for accepting me into the Tabernacle family,” DeWysockie said. “I am excited to hit the ground running for the 2016–2017 school year.”

Though Robbins currently resides in Green Bank with his wife Abigail and son Henry, he grew up in Shamong and is a graduate of Seneca High School. He expressed the new position feels like coming home and couldn’t wait to get started.

Robbins comes to Tabernacle from Northfield Community Middle School where he served as principal since 2012, previously working his way up through Egg Harbor Township High School. Robbins is a graduate of Rider University with a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education and social studies and Jones International University with a master’s in educational leadership and administration. He is currently enrolled in the American College of Education seeking his doctorate in educational leadership.

Robbins was recognized as the 2016 National Digital Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals; is a winner of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow STEM Contest; was selected for both the China School Study Tour through the Confucius Institute of Rutgers University along with nine other New Jersey school administrators; and the Silicon Valley Enhancement Study Tour through the University of Pennsylvania.

DeWysockie too expressed her excitement to be a part of the TTS and said she would love to get started even earlier than Nov. 1.

DeWysockie living in Jackson, comes from Ewing Public Schools as an assistant school board administrator since 2010, holding a bachelor’s and master’s from Georgian Court University, a New Jersey State Department of Education Certificate as school business administrator and a New Jersey State Certificate as a qualified purchasing agent from the Department of Community Affairs Division of Local Government Services. She is also a member of the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials and the Association of School Business officials International.

In addition to serving as the chief financial officer for the district, she will also be responsible fro and supervise the Cafeteria Enterprise, buildings and grounds, transportation and all business office functions.

“As interim superintendent, I am thrilled to be able to attract these two outstanding candidates; and I am hopeful for a long and prosperous term with us,” interim superintendent John M. Sherry said.

Robbins’s contract was approved starting Nov. 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019 at the annual salary of $132,500. DeWysockie’s contract was approved starting Nov. 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017 at the annual salary of $100,000.

Also approved that night was for a part-time classroom assistant filled by Laura Hughes, pending the completion of the criminal history review process.
