The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:
A victim reported their Google Nexus 5x cell phone (white with black case) was stolen from the women’s locker room of the YMCA between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Aug. 2
At 9:26 a.m. on July 15, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on the 100 block of Chaucer Road for an assault report. The victim reported a male, age 37, of Cherry Hill, and two other men forced their way into this home and assaulted him. The victim sustained facial injuries. The investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant charging Holmes with burglary and aggravated assault. On Aug. 2, the male turned himself in to Mt. Laurel Police. He posted a $50,000 bond and was released pending a court hearing.
On July 30, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Laurel Acres Park for a theft report. Someone broke a window on a vehicle between 12:15 p.m. and 1:24 p.m. and stole a purse that was on the back seat. A short time later the suspect fraudulently cashed checks written for total of $4,000.
On July 30, a victim reported that his rental vehicle had been stolen from the hotel he was staying at on the 1100 block of Route 73. He suspected an acquaintance that had been staying with him at the hotel had stolen the car. On Aug. 1, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police in North Carolina reported that they had recovered the vehicle at a motel in their jurisdiction.
At 1:26 a.m. on July 30, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road near Church Street. During the stop officers arrested a male, age 30, of Philadelphia. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.
On July 29, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a vacant residence on the 1100 block of Union Mill Road for the report of someone squatting in the residence. Officers found evidence that the home had been forcibly entered and someone was living there. On July 30, officers returned to the residence and found a male and female inside. The investigation led to the arrest of a male, age 35, of Rio Grande and a female, age 37, of North Cape May.
The male was charged with criminal trespass, hindering apprehension by providing a false name to law enforcement, possession of a firearm (a .177 caliber pellet gun), possession of oxycodone, possession of crystal methamphetamine and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He was also wanted by the Cape May Sheriff’s Department. Bail was set at $42,250.00 with no 10 percent option and he was committed to Burlington County Jail.
The female was charged with criminal trespass and hindering the apprehension of another by providing false names for the male. She was released pending a court hearing.
Between midnight and 8 a.m. on July 28, a total of five vehicles parked at businesses and hotels around the Route 73 and Atrium Way area had their catalytic converters stolen. The criminals targeted mostly Honda and Acura vehicles by cutting off their exhaust systems. Thieves often target this auto part because they contain expensive metals that can be sold to recyclers. Criminals can remove this part from a vehicle in less than a minute leaving the victim a hefty repair bill.
During the overnight hours of July 27 into July 28, someone spray-painted a picture of a duck and the tag “Zoo Kid” on the wall of a mausoleum at the Jesus Bread of Life Catholic Cemetery, 3055 Fostertown Road.
A resident on the first block of Broadacre Drive reported his 2015 Infinity had been stolen from his driveway during the overnight hours of July 27 into the July 28. The owner reported that he regularly leaves the ignition key in the car but locks the doors. The car was driven across the lawn knocking over the mailbox. On the morning of July 28 the vehicle was found parked in the street in front of the victim’s residence. The vehicle had sustained some damage.
