The official start of summer is almost here, and once again Voorhees residents won’t have to travel far from home to keep entertained in the coming months.
The summer season has already brought the start of Voorhees Township’s 13th Annual Summer Twilight Series, which is one again taking place at Connolly Park.
The next show in the series will take place on Thursday, July 21 and will feature the Jimmy Buffett tribute band Parrot Beach.
From “Margaritaville” to “Cheeseburger in Paradise” to “Come Monday” and many more, Parrot Beach plays many of Jimmy Buffett’s hits mixed with some other island music for a relaxing summer experience.
Closing the concert portion of the Summer Series on Thursday, Aug. 11 will be the returning show EagleMania-The World’s Greatest Eagles Tribute Band.
In addition to playing many of the Eagles’ hit songs from their decade-long career, Eaglemania also performs much of the work from the band’s individual members such as Joe Walsh, Don Henley and the late Glenn Frey who passed away in January.
The series will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 17 with the annual Movie Night in the Park for families where this year the township will hold a free screening of Disney Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated feature “Inside Out.”
All shows in the Summer Series start at 7:30 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets and enjoy the free performances.

For those looking to spend some time with their dogs this summer, the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees has got them covered.
The AWA will be holding Bark in the Park events at Timber Creek Dog Park at the intersection of Chews Landing Road and Taylor Avenue in Blackwood.
The events will provide fun days for dogs and people to come out to for games, information for pet owners and the AWA’s trademarked Bark-tini dog cocktails. This summer the events will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, June 18, July 23 and Aug. 20.
For Voorhees residents who want to learn something new this summer, the Camden County Library system continues to offer museum passes to many of the area’s museums and other attractions. Adult cardholders in good standing may check out up to one museum ticket for up to four days at a time.
Passes that residents might find especially attractive during the summer include the Battleship New Jersey, Camden Children’s Garden, Grounds for Sculpture, Morris Arboretum, Elmwood Park Zoo and Woodford Wildlife Refuge.
Also available are state park passes to provide free parking at any of the state parks in New Jersey.
Finally, throughout the summer, Voorhees Township will offer discounted tickets for Morey’s Amusement Piers and Waterparks located on the boardwalk in Wildwood.
Tickets may be obtained in person from the Office of the Voorhees Township Clerk, which can be reached at (856) 429–7757, and are payable by cash, check or money order made payable to Voorhees Township.
The tickets are good any day and do not expire.
