Presented by the Medford Historical Society, the 41st Annual Betty Molloy Quilt Show will take place on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12 from 10 to 4 p.m. each day at Kirby’s Mill on 275 Church Rd (at Fostertown Road.)
Come tour the historic mill decorated with a multitude of beautiful handmade quilts presented by various exhibitors from throughout the area. These beautiful works of art are in various shapes and sizes and have many different patterns and themes.
On display this year will be a recent donation from the Haines family; a handmade quilt from 1900 that was representative of a number of the Medford families living here during that time. Each square was sold for the price of $3.40 and the purchaser could list their name/names in the square.
Each name or design was then hand stitched onto the square and the squares were then pieced together to form this beautiful piece of history. The quilt was then auctioned off and won by Mr. Samuel Garwood, who then passed the quilt through his family where it ended up in the hands of Carleton and Susan Haines who have now donated the quilt to the Medford Historical Society for all to enjoy in memory of his mother Irene Garwood Haines.
Come take a look at this magnificent quilt and many others that will be on display. The event is free but donations are welcomed.
Refreshments will be available for purchase in the Mill kitchen.
If you are interested in displaying a quilt please contact the event chairwoman, Theresa Freedman, at (856) 625–2256 or email [email protected].
