Migrant Worker Outreach collection boxes will be at several Burlington County branch libraries and additional sites, during the March 15 through April 30 drive. If you want a collection box or basket, complete with sign for your business, church, school, or organization, contact Dory at (609) 969–2480.
Migrant Worker Outreach director, Dory Dickson, suggests, “Those who visit the collection boxes can use their phones to take a snapshot of the attached sign, which lists all the things we collect. Our phone number is on the sign, too, if anyone wants to contact us to arrange a pick-up or to ask about donating items not on our sign. Six thousand migrant workers come to South Jersey every year, to work in the blueberry harvest. Our mission is to welcome them. We collaborate with Hammonton Rotary to organize English as a Second Language classes. We publish the Migrant Teen Journals, in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole, for free distribution at the twenty-one camps we visit.”
