ShopRite of Medford recognized by Cheerios

Hundreds of ShopRite associates across six states banded together last September in a friendly competition sponsored by ShopRite and General Mills, the annual ShopRite Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest. With the “lending a hand for hunger” theme, ShopRite associates once again rolled up their sleeves and worked hard to fight hunger in the communities where ShopRite stores operate.

The ShopRite of Medford was the number one fundraiser of ShopRite’s top 41 stores in six states, raising $25,532.77 for the ShopRite Partners in Caring Program.

Associates collected donations at checkout and held various events in store, raising $1.3 million during the popular contest to support regional food banks in communities served by ShopRite stores. Now those associates are being recognized for their dedication and hard work with a prized spot on a special-edition Cheerios box.

Each of the 40 winning ShopRite stores chose two ShopRite associates to be featured on a special-edition Cheerios box. These customized Cheerios boxes, sold exclusively at ShopRite, will be unveiled at in-store celebrations during the month of March. Additionally, each winning store was awarded funds ($3,000 for the top 5 stores, and $500 for the remaining winning stores), that will be presented to local food pantries chosen by their store team.

“The 81 ShopRite associates featured on this year’s special-edition Cheerios Box represent the caring and compassion that has come to symbolize the fight against hunger and the commitment of ShopRite Partners In Caring,” said Christine Magyarits, spokesperson for ShopRite Partners In Caring. “Since ShopRite Partners In Caring began in 1999, a total of $40 million has been donated to local food banks to feed the hungry in our communities. The Cheerios contest is one of our favorite annual events and highlights many of our ‘partners’ in the fight against hunger — our dedicated ShopRite associates, our generous customers, and one of our long-time vendor partners, General Mills, who shares our passion for helping those in need of food assistance.”

Among this year’s winning stores is the ShopRite of Medford which selected Associate Tom Bezanis of Lindenwold, and Associate Patricia Dyremose of Medford Lakes and Mike Mahoney of Franklinville, all of whom are featured on 150,000 special-edition Cheerios boxes for their store’s commitment. The box will be unveiled during a ceremony at the ShopRite of Medford on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:30 a.m.
