Evesham Police arrest Williamstown couple for stealing purses and credit cards

The following report is on file with the Evesham Police Department:

An investigation began on Feb. 2 when Evesham Officers responded to Simply Smiles, 750 South Route 73 for two employees that had their purses stolen from inside the business.

On Feb. 3 Evesham Officers responded an additional report of a wallet that was stolen from a patient at Dr. Merlino Chiropractor Office located at 102 Centre Blvd.

During the investigation, officers quickly determined that the suspects were similar in both cases and in both incidents the victims credit cards were fraudulently used shortly after the crime.

On Feb. 24 investigators were able to identify and charge both suspects in connection to both purse thefts.

Arrested:

A female age 35 of Williamstown was charged with three counts of third degree theft and credit card theft. She was lodged in the Salem County Jail in default of $60,000 bail.

A male age 51 of Williamstown was charged with three counts of third degree theft and credit card theft. He was lodged in the Salem County Jail in default of $60,000 bail.
