For the sixth year in a row, Mt. Laurel homeowners will not see a tax increase in their fire district tax bill if voters approve the budget.
The Board of Fire Commissioners of Mount Laurel Township Fire District №1 will conduct the annual election on Feb. 20. There is one open three-year term available, and Cynthia Dipietrantonio will be the only candidate on the ballot. The polls will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Masonville Fire Station №361 located at 105 Masonville Road, the Fellowship Fire Station №362 located on 3824 Church Road and the Headquarters Fire Station located at 69 Elbo Lane.
Residents will also have the opportunity to vote on if the fire district will raise $8,279,556 by taxation to support total 2016 budget expenses of $9,963,211.
“We plan to spend this primarily on maintaining staffing at 2015 levels and keeping expenses in line with 2015 levels with no capital improvements planned in 2016,” Mt. Laurel Fire District №1 Administrator Scott Jones said.
The fire district tax rate is 14.3 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. A full copy of the 2016 budget is at www.mountlaurelfire.com.
