What’s so funny about love and marriage?

valentines day

Karen Brash McGreer mixes 30 years of counseling couples, her own relationship experiences, and more than a dozen jazz standards to create the winning combination for a couple’s Valentine Date Night.

This evening of humorous cabaret is being held on Feb. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m., in Medford.

Karen Brash McGreer, a long time Medford resident, and a licensed marriage and family therapist, will be accompanied on piano by David Hackman of Marlton.

Intertwining tunes from the American Songbook, observations from McGreer’s life, and issues every couple faces, things “get real.” McGreer uses her own relationship experiences as fodder for her performance, noting the unrealistic expectation we bring to love, as well as the inherent paradox and confusion about how to “do” relationships. Employing her thespian instincts and jazzy vocals, McGreer provides lots of opportunity to laugh and learn about marriage.

“The show provides couples with a fun night to celebrate their relationship while enjoying music from Sondheim, Rodgers and Hart, the Gershwins, and other great songwriters,” said Brash McGreer. “I’ve performed this show seven times and couples seem to enjoy the humor — laughing at the paradox that the person who keeps you sane is the very one who drives you crazy. It’s fun.”

The event takes place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on 609 Tabernacle Road, across from Shawnee High School. There is no charge for the evening, but reservations are a must.

Call Karen McGreer at (609) 654–4200 to reserve your space, or e-mail through IntentionalMarriage.com.

Guests are invited to bring something for the appetizer or dessert table if they desire.
