Residents urged to register for emergency alerts

Freeholder Ryan Peters, freeholder liaison for public safety, announced today that the Burlington County Office of Emergency Management has switched to a new emergency notification system called Swift 911.

“This system is a valuable tool that will be used to keep our county residents and communities informed during a crisis,” said Freeholder Peters. “Our goal is to ensure that each of our municipalities and law enforcement agencies have an efficient and reliable way to communicate with our residents and businesses during an emergency.”

“We recommend that all of our residents visit the County’s website, www.co.burlington.nj.us, and register for alert notifications on this new system to stay informed and receive up to the minute alerts. It is important to remember that an emergency can happen at any time and you want to be prepared. Registering for these alerts takes less than a minute,” Peters added.

“Following us on Facebook, at BurlingtonCountyNJ, or Twitter, @BurlCoNJ, are other easy ways to stay up to date with all that is going on in our County,” Peters concluded.

Swift 911 replaces the county’s previous emergency alert system provider, CodeRed. Residents who have previously registered their contact information with CodeRed should re-register with Swift911 on the County website.
