There was a big effort to “explain” what was going on in the movie. Sadly, it was still too confusing to be enjoyable. Sitting next to Phil, I could tell I was missing the point because he chuckled throughout the film. Based on a true story, the viewer is meant to understand why the major investment firms and banks that weren’t bailed out failed. And I guess I do understand it better after sitting through the film; but it was pretty much torturous watching this “explanation.”
Phil: Must See Now
A film about a few brokers who foresaw the 2007 bubble in the stock market and had the fortitude to put their money (and that of some of their investors) where their mouths were. Interesting presentation of some technical financial concepts through “explanatory vignettes.” I liked it!
