Handyman charged with stealing jewelry from Evesham home

The following report is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

A handyman from West Deptford has been charged with stealing a wedding ring from an Evesham Township home. Evesham Police are urging people who had work recently done by the handyman service, Unlimited Services of West Deptford, to check for any missing valuables.

On Dec. 20, Evesham officers were called to the unit block of Sutton Court, for a report of missing jewelry. The victim said a handyman service had just completed some work on her home when she noticed the jewelry missing.

Evesham investigators monitored an electronic pawn database and quickly got a break in the case when an employee of Unlimited Services pawned the $12,000 ring. Detectives retrieved the wedding ring and returned it to the victim within 24 hours of it being stolen.

Charged: A male, age 42, of West Deptford, was charged with third degree theft. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and his whereabouts are unknown.

In 2013 Evesham Township Official’s voted to pass an ordinance regulating the purchase and resale of all secondhand goods. The ordinance required all second hand dealers to report purchases to the electronic database, R.A.P.I.D. This ordinance played a critical role in this investigation and countless others since its implementation.
