The Pinelands Library is as eager as you are for the big event, so we are gearing up with some special events.

On Dec. 7 at 4 p.m., Mr. Rick will be reading Star Wars: Showdown on the Smugglers’ Moon. This latest comic book adventure is delivered complete with big screen action. Join all your favorite characters as they unite forces to thwart the evil powers of Darth Vader.

On Saturday, Dec. 12 at 3 p.m., David Engel will be presenting Star Wars: Jedi nights’ Academy. Learn the ways of the Jedi with Panniken Moonjumper, a true Master of Intergalactic fun and adventure. During this live action show, your little Jedi and Sith Warriors and Princesses will be delighted by comic antics, exciting physical challenges, Magical Mayhem, Light saber lessons and a visit from his furry alien sidekick. You can even come in costume to either of these events to show your support for your favorite character. Both events require pre-registration beginning two weeks before the scheduled date at: www.bcls.lib.nj.us/calendar/month/mf.

Our Family Movie Night on Dec. 15 may not be Star Wars, but it is certainly seasonal. The film will be The Nightmare Before Christmas. In this delightful animated musical, Jack Skellington, King of Halloween Town, stumbles into Christmas Town and is enchanted by what he sees. As he and the other residents of Halloween Town try to put on Christmas instead of Halloween, mayhem occurs. Bring your own blankets and snacks or share ours for a wonderful movie experience. All movie nights begin at 6 p.m.

Also just in time for the holidays is our “December Make and Take” all day on Dec. 8. featuring everyone’s favorite snowman. No, not Frosty; it’s Olaf!

And if you are all thumbs when it comes to wrapping those holiday gifts, join us for a lesson in gift-wrapping on Dec. 17 at 6:45p.m. We will provide all the information on measuring, cutting, folding and making the prettiest ribbons under the tree. Practice on our dummy gifts or bring your own to wrap. Supplies are provided.

As always, we have our monthly reading raffles. For the details on our special December offerings, check out our next letter. There is also something special for the adults from one of our own.

Until next time, keep turning those pages and “May the force be with you”.
