The Reverend Daniel F. Swift, recently installed as eighth pastor of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church and School, will be the keynote speaker at the Eleventh Annual Medford-Vincentown Thanks-Giving Community Spiritual Breakfast on
Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Medford Lakes Country Club on Oak Drive in Medford Lakes.
“We should keep an eye on incorporating stewardship in all we do,” Father Dan says. “What better way can we give thanks to God for His many blessings but to receive them gratefully, nurture them responsibly, share them generously and return them to the Lord with increase.”
Recognized for his endless energy and love for church and community, Father Dan has already made an impact on Medford and St. Mary of the Lakes since his arrival four months ago. As the new and eighth pastor of the church and school, he recently increased the number of church ministries, established a Parish Pastoral Council, increased the number of Finance Council members and initiated a planning committee for the celebration of the parish’s 75th anniversary, among other initiatives. His new adult Scripture series is attracting up to 200 weekly participants.
In 2013, Father Dan was honored with the National Catholic Education Association Distinguished Pastor Award for outstanding support of Catholic education. A product of Catholic education himself, he enjoys teaching Catholic School and religious education students
Cost for the Thanks-Giving event is $16 and includes a breakfast buffet. Any funds raised by this year’s event will go toward the Gift of Life Program.
