Moorestown High School’s Field Hockey Team recently collected food donations for two township organizations that distribute food to needy families.
The team collected more than 250 pounds of food, including tuna fish, peanut butter, beans and other high-protein items.
The two organizations that will make sure the food reaches families in need are MooreKids and the food pantry run by the Bethel AME Church on North Church Street.
MooreKids is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Moorestown Public School system that works to address the needs of the township’s underserved student population. Programs and projects for students are developed and implemented based on direct feedback from MTPS staff.
Several members of the Moorestown High School Field Hockey Team are involved with the MooreKids Teen Leadership Committee (TLC). The TLC is made up of high school students who participate in leadership development through the planning and implementation of community service activities and events to further the mission of MooreKids.
The Bethel AME food pantry is located at 512 North Church Street and open the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
