Letter to the Editor: If your child is active in sports, support Ravitz and Nocito
For the past several years, I have served our community and volunteered my time in the area of youth sports and recreation. I became involved because, like you, I believe that a positive experience with youth sports and athletics is critical to a child’s overall development.
Our town has grown dramatically over the past few years, increasing the demand for new and improved recreational facilities for baseball, youth soccer, football, softball, lacrosse and basketball. Our local government officials have always been there, providing our sports organizations with the assistance they need to have safe, recreational facilities of which we all can be proud.
This year, Jason Ravitz and Michelle Nocito are running for Voorhees Township Committee. Both have been extremely active in our sports community as coaches.
During the past several years, our local governing body has significantly added to our recreational inventory and field improvement. They have achieved much; including substantial improvement to a playground at Connolly Park on Centennial Boulevard, the site of our Summer Series, which was purchased through a Green Acres Grant; improvements at Lions Lake Softball Complex and Maiaroto Soccer Complex, including the erection of new and improved field lighting; field turf installed at Giangiulio Football Field; field turf installed at Rabinowitz Major’s baseball field, plus added a new community playground with a $25,000 grant; installed new bocce courts at Kirkwood Park along with a new walk path with another $25,000 grant.
I know that Jason and Michelle, with active school age children all involved in youth sports, truly understand the need to provide our children a safe place to participate in sports at complexes which make us all proud. Voorhees truly has some of the best facilities in the state. Jason and Michelle are committed to the pursuit of additional grants to improve our recreational areas and facilities.
I believe the best chance we have of continuing to move Voorhees Township’s recreation program forward is to support the candidacy of Jason Ravitz and Michelle Nocito for Voorhees Township Committee. If your child is active in sports in our community, I would appreciate your support for Jason and Michelle on Election Day — Nov. 3.
