Rowan College at Burlington County unveils new logo

Rowan College at Burlington County unveiled its new logo and celebrated the creation of a $30,000 bachelor’s degree in Burlington County thanks to its new partnership with Rowan University at an event that proved to be the largest ever to be held on the Mt. Laurel campus with more than 600 hundred students, alumni, community members, and college and education officials on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The new logo pays homage to more than four decades worth of history at the college by retaining its mobius shape, a symbol for education’s never ending cycle, and inherits Rowan’s font and name.

Rowan College at Burlington County President Paul Drayton, Rowan University President Ali A. Houshmand, and Rowan College at Burlington County Trustee member Kate Gibbs spoke to the excitement of the partnership, the necessity for affordable higher education, and the reality that a $30,000 bachelor’s degree is now possible in Burlington County.

In addition, Rowan College at Burlington County recognized Mt. Laurel resident and former Student Government Association President Liz Woodward, Class of 2012, who recently drew national attention by picking up the diner tab for two firefighters coming home from fighting an overnight blaze. Gibbs presented her with a resolution on behalf of the RCBC board of trustees and applauded her act of kindness and thanked her for inspiring others to give back in any way they can. The first student to complete her degree requirements and receive the first Rowan College at Burlington County diploma, Jeanatha Mosley, was also recognized. The honors student will formally receive her degree in criminal justice at next May’s graduation at the Mt. Laurel campus.

The logo unveiling and celebration continued throughout the afternoon with cupcakes in the new RCBC colors and quesadillas courtesy of the culinary arts program, free and newly branded Rowan College at Burlington County t-shirts, hands-on demonstrations and workshops from faculty in criminal justice, psychology and biology, arts and crafts for children, and tours of the campus.

Registration for the first-ever Rowan College at Burlington County semester this fall continues through Sept. 1. Students can register in-person or online at www.rcbc.edu.

The Rowan College of Burlington County Office of Student Activities has planned exciting “welcome” events to kick off the academic year for all RCBC students on Wednesday, Sept. 2 and Thursday, Sept. 3.
