Local musical talent, performing in a range of forms are scheduled to partake in the Camden County Library’s third annual summer music festival that includes multiple free programs for the public’s enjoyment.
This summer’s rendition offers an open mic talent show, a spoken word workshop and a summer training camp for area student musicians. There will be performances to suit most everyone’s musical tastes: jazz, Irish music, pop, music from the Great American Songbook and more.
Programs that will be at branches including the Voorhees Branch at 203 Laurel Road are:
-“Vintage Vinyl: 1950s, 60s, 70s and British Invasion”. Butler will talk and take questions about “LPs” and “45s” that audience members may even still own from certain eras. Find out what they could be valued at in the market today. The programs will take places at Voorhees: Tuesday, July 21, 7 p.m. and Haddon Township: Wednesday, July 29, 7p.m.
-Sultry Summer Sounds with Tony Saxon — Adults: Come to the library and cool off with romantic ballads sung by Tony Saxon. Haddon Township: Monday, July 20, 7 p.m., Merchantville: Wednesday, July 22, 7 p.m., Voorhees: Saturday, August 8, 1 p.m., Bellmawr: Monday, August 10, 7:15 p.m. and South County: Friday, August 14, 7 p.m.
-The Gabriels — All ages: The Gabriels are a quartet popular throughout South Jersey. They play music from the Great American Songbook including Irving Berlin, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, plus some Dixieland and show tunes. The group will appear at the Voorhees branch on Saturday, July 18, 1 p.m.
-Mark Carroll — All ages: Enjoy an afternoon treat of traditional Irish music as Mark Carroll transports you back to the Emerald Isle. Mark is a seasoned performer on the Celtic harp, Uilean pipes, hammered dulcimer and many other instruments. The performance will take place at the Voorhees branch on Saturday, July 25, 1 p.m.
