Evesham Police arrest man for planting imitation bomb in 2014

The following report comes from Evesham Police Lt. Joseph Friel:

Evesham police have arrested of a man of Monroe Township for an imitation bomb left at the Evesham Municipal Complex addressed to local Judge in April 2014.

On April 24, 2014 Evesham Township Police investigated a suspicious package that was left in the lobby area of the building on the day of scheduled municipal court. The package was addressed to the Evesham Municipal Court Judge and had wires protruding from the side, appearing to be a bomb. The area was immediately evacuated and the New Jersey State Police Bomb Detection Unit discovered the package to be non-explosive.

DNA evidence collected from the package by an Evesham Police crime scene technician was sent to the New Jersey State Police for analysis. That sample was later linked to a male, age 53, of Monroe Township.

On July 16, 2015, the Evesham Police, Monroe Police, and F.B.I, armed with multiple search warrants and an arrest warrant located and arrested the male in his Monroe Township home during the early morning hours.

The Evesham Police Department would like to thank the New Jersey State Police, F.B.I and the Monroe Township Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.

Arrested:

A male, age 53, of Monroe Township, was charged with third degree terroristic threats and third degree false public alarm. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $45,000 bail.
